How Cyber-Strike 3D was made
Cyber-Strike 3D looks like a full 3D game but is really a clever illusion. The characters are 3D models rendered in advance from several angles, then drawn as flat sprites on a canvas. That is how it gets a premium 3D look while staying fast in any browser.
The sprites are rendered on a magenta background, and the game removes that colour in the browser (a chroma-key) so each frame sits cleanly on the floor. Surface textures are generated by code rather than loaded from image files.
The audio is the other trick. Every gunshot, hit and ambient hum is built from oscillators in the Web Audio API, so the game ships with no sound files at all.
