How Doughnut Dash was made
Doughnut Dash is the sweetest game on the site. You roll a glazed doughnut down a sunny bakery conveyor, hop wooden rolling pins and warm ovens, and chain pickups before the belt gets deliciously fast.
It is built with Phaser 3, a popular game framework, and uses sprites modelled in Blender. If an image is missing, the game draws a stand-in with code, so it never breaks. All the sound is generated live with Web Audio.
There is no build step: the files are served as they are, which makes the game quick to tweak and quick to load.
